Heather Gocke

Ms. Gocke has overall responsibility for the Employee and Patient Safety divisions of the Risk Management and Safety department at BETA Healthcare Group. In her role, she oversees all aspects of BETA’s Risk Management services including the communication and resolution program entitled BETA HEART® (healing, empathy, accountability, resolution, and trust), and is particularly passionate about involving patients and their families in all aspects of healthcare.


Before joining BETA Healthcare Group in 2009, she was a liability claims specialist for the Southern California Physicians Insurance Exchange (SCPIE) which was later acquired by The Doctors Company, and a legal nurse consultant. She later accepted a position at the corporate headquarters of a then 42-hospital system where she was involved in a variety of system-wide risk management and safety improvement efforts.


She has dedicated her career in risk management and safety to transforming organizational culture. Ms. Gocke is a certified professional in healthcare risk management, is a registered nurse and holds a certificate as a paralegal and legal nurse consultant.  She completed a Patient Safety Leadership fellowship in 2009 through the American Hospital Association, is past president of the Southern California Association for Healthcare Risk Management, and served nine years on the Board of Directors of the National Certification Corporation, a nurse certification agency.


Ms. Gocke earned her Associate of Science degree in Nursing, a Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Management, and her Master of Science degree in Safety Leadership at the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Medicine.
