Larry has been a practicing pharmacist for 42 years. He has worked in the community pharmacy area of practice, primarily in chain practice. Larry retired from full-time practice at Albertsons in 2022 but still works per diem in community-independent pharmacy settings. Larry holds a BS in Pharmacy from the Arnold and Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy, Brooklyn NY, as well as a BS in Biology from the Pennsylvania State University. Larry is very active in pharmacy and other healthcare organizations, on national and local levels. He is a Fellow of the California Pharmacists Association.
Larry is interested in medication errors as it relates to patient safety and harm. He has co-authored a commentary on medication errors for the Joint Commission on Quality and Patient Safety in 2023.
He has been working with the American Public Health Association on solutions to medication errors since these errors are a public health concern. As chair of the Community Pharmacy Special Interest Group of the California Pharmacists Association, Larry has worked on staffing and workplace issues for community pharmacists, since these issues can contribute to medication errors.
In March of 2024, Larry attended the Pacific Coast Patient Safety Conference, presented by the California Society of Health-System Pharmacists. At that conference, one of the speakers was Susan Sheridan. This is how Larry learned of PFPS. Along with his passion for patient safety, Larry would like to work with PFPS to learn more about patient safety, and hopefully find solutions to these problems that we all face.
