Dr. Luis Torres Torija Arguelles, born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico, is a
physician from Westhill University with training in Quality and Patient Safety from
the Tecnológico of Monterrey Residence program. He has a Master's degree in
Business Administration from EGADE Business School in Mexico and is part of the
Beta Gamma Sigma Society, which integrates the best students from the main
business schools in the world. Currently, he is pursuing a Master’s in Public Health
at the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina.
During his academic and professional training, he had the opportunity to work in
both the public and private medical sectors. He completed a training stay in the
Quality Department of the Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Dallas, Texas, as well as
international exchanges at the University of Berkeley in California and the
University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. He finished the Healthcare Safety Fellowship of the
Patient Safety Movement Foundation focused on improving patient safety.
He has the knowledge and experience for the management, design, evaluation,
improvement, and innovation of clinical care and patient safety processes,
incorporating methodologies for continuous improvement. Within another type of
specific training, he is certified as a facilitator of communication workshops for
health personnel by the United States Academy of Communication in Healthcare.
He currently is an Ambassador in Mexico of the Patient Safety Movement
Foundation, an international organization focused on improving patient safety
worldwide, and serves as an evaluator of the National Certification System. of
healthcare establishments in Mexico and the international model of the Canadian
Healthcare Council.
He has participated as a speaker in national and international congresses related to quality and patient safety, health economics, and health systems globally.
